While my love for Ron Howard dates back to my potentially unhealthy obsession with classic television and his roles in the Andy Griffith show and Happy Days, Howard’s most notable career keystones lie in his directing and producing. His command of fantasy in movies like Willow tempered in equal measure with his strengths in drama and comedy, Ron Howard has what it takes to give Han the Solo film he deserves (pun intended).

“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie. Filming will resume the 10th of July.”

-Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

The Han Solo film has yet to be given an official name, but it’s set to release May 25, 2018!
