The series will drop on Halloween. I really can’t think of a better way to spend my Halloween evening as I approach that ripe old age of 30.
And Eleven is going to be back. Oh yes, we will get more of her, just with more hair.
In the series announcement, a rolling slideshow revealed the names of nine episodes from the upcoming series:
The Boy Who Came Back To Life
The Pumpkin Patch
The Secret Cabin
The Lost Brother
One of the new characters will be called Max (played by Sadie Sink from Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt), so fans believe she will be premiered in episode one.
Her brother, Billy (Dacre Montgomery), could be the focus of the final episode. Max will likely become one of the gang – Billy however “doesn’t make great friends”, setting himself up to be this year’s villain.
The second episode, ‘The Boy Who Came Back To Life’, is also the headline of a newspaper clipping shown in the season one finale which means we’ll likely learn more about Will, here.
Noah Schnapp (Will) confirmed that the new episodes will pick up exactly where season 2 left off, Will vomiting up that slug. I can’t wait to see what comes of that. It was quite the cliff hanger.
“You’ll be seeing more of me. I’ll be there,” said Schnapp to Vanity Fair. “In the last episode, I threw up a slug, so Season 2 begins with what happens from there. There may have been some effect on him. I may or may not have turned into a monster. You’ll have to watch to find out.”
The Pollywog’ is common term for ‘tadpole’ and I’m curious if it has anything to do with whatever the hell came out of Will’s mouth.
Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy, told Dazed, “It will be interesting to see how relationships have morphed because of what’s happened. I’m sure a lot of people would love to see how she deals with the loss of her friend, Barb. And I’d love to see some good brother-sister moments.” She also admitted that Nancy should “have more badass moments.”
Season two will be set in 1984, so the hairstylists on the show have promised mullets and perms. “Last year was ’83 and this year is ’84, and they’re still in Hawkins, Indiana — but people are starting to realise there are perms and mullets, so we’re using a lot of wigs this year, because no one wants perms and mullets,” lead hairstylist, Sarah Hindsgaul told Refinery29.
Sean Astin (The Goonies, Lord of the Rings) will be joining the cast as Bob Newby. The character is described as “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.” Executive producer Shaun Levy explained the impact the character will have on the new episodes. “Bob is new to our weird Hawkins group, but he’s immediately memorable and I think people are going to be very surprised by where that takes them this year.”
Paul Reiser (Aliens) is to play Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year”
Danish actress Linnea Berthelsen will be playing Roman, an “emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child.”
We won’t see anymore of Barb, though. It’s pretty official that’s she’s dead, but they promised to pay proper homage.
So tell us, how excited are you about Season 2 of Stranger Things?!
