The role of young Dumbledore (decades before he was Headmaster of Hogwarts) is to be played by Academy Award nominated Jude Law in the new sequel to “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. Before Dumbledore became the Headmaster he was a professor of Transfiguration and a peer to the villain Grindelwald from the first Fantastic Beasts film.
Returning director David Yates said, ‘Jude Law is a phenomenally talented actor whose work I’ve long admired and I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to work with him. I know he will brilliantly capture all the unexpected facets of Albus Dumbledore as J.K. Rowling reveals this very different time in his life.’
Four more films are planned in the franchise, with David Yates returning as director.
The sequel to Fantastic Beasts is set to be released November 16, 2018 and filming begins this summer!
